In the Digital Age, children spend increasingly more time in online environments. This reduces their opportunities for physical interaction with peers. As a result, digitalizing language instruction has become essential to foster oral communication, strengthen language skills, and reduce anxiety in speaking tasks.
The Western Balkans Context
The necessity of integrating digital methods in language education is strongly felt in the Western Balkans. Governments and institutions have already developed strategies for digital transformation, where digital competencies are set as a priority for reforming educational systems.
Current Challenges
Despite these strategies, several issues remain. Many teachers, including language teachers, are not adequately qualified to integrate digital tools in their teaching. Moreover, the absence of sufficient digital content in Western Balkan languages further limits effective implementation.
